As the Liberia electoral body, National Elections Commission preparing to release the provisional results of October 10, 2017 polls, Director General of the of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) Dewitt Dewitt vonBallmoos, is calling on Liberians to used the current peace being enjoyed by Liberians to forge away.
He noted that the peaceful nature of the just ended legislative and presidential elections are the foundation needed for Liberia to reach, and further said such foundation of peace must be embraced as a people and nation desirous achieving its development agenda.
The NASSCOPR boss spoke minutes on Monday after standing for more than an hour to cast his vote at the Virginia Christian Academy in the township of Virginia outside the capital Monrovia.
In a joyous mood, Mr. vonBallmoos said Liberians have shown to her African neighbors and as well as the world that they are not prepare to return to the ugly past, stressing, “This peaceful manner in which Liberians conducted themselves to cast their ballots is a demonstration of their willingness and preparedness to ensure a peaceful transition come January 2018.
The NASSCORP DG also intimated that peaceful manner indicates that Liberians have sober reflections of the past and understand what a means to have a peaceful transition from one democratically government to another.
“I am not only delighted by the huge turnout of Liberians to exercise the democratic franchise, but the peaceful manner in which potential voters conducted themselves,” he told journalists.
NASSCORP is an autonomous agency of the Liberian government equipped with the task to provide future financial security for those under its schemes in the employ of public and private sectors in the event of occupational injury, old age, invalidity or death.
