2 shot dead outside South Jersey sports bar, authorities say

MVP Sports Bar on Wheat Road, where two people were found dead early Saturday

BUENA — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left two dead in a vehicle parked outside of a bar early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of shots fired around 1:20 a.m. at 408 Wheat Road, the address of MVP Sports Bar. There, they found a 34-year-old man and 23-year-old woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The owner of MVP was not immediately available for comment Saturday afternoon.

Autopsies are scheduled Sunday for both victims, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing, and the names of both the man and woman are being withheld at this time. Anyone with information regarding the homicides is asked to contact the prosecutor’s office at 609-909-7800.
