A city police department officer was released from a hospital Friday afternoon, one day after he was shot three times in Brooklyn.
Officer Hart Nguyen walked out of Jamaica Hospital on his own power, with his right arm in a sling, to applause from more than 100 people, most of whom were police officers.
The 30-year-old and two-year veteran of the department will continue to recover at his home in Gravesend.
Nguyen is expected to make a full recovery after a man shot him hit twice in his bulletproof vest and once in the arm.
“This is an example of the bravery of the men and women of the NYPD. This is an example of the fact that our officers go into any situation, and how it might turn on a moment’s notice,” Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters Thursday. “Thank God our officer is going to come through OK in this case.”
