
The Ad-Hoc Elections Committee of the Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL) has announced the timetable for the holding of elections of the association.
According to a press release from the committee said, elections for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary General and Financial Secretary, will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2017.
The press release issued today signed by the Secretary to the Ad-Hoc Elections Committee, Lewis Glay and approved by the Chairman of the Committee, Lyndon J. Ponnies of the Committee also revealed that application and registration of candidates will commerce on July 12 and ends on July 14. It says vetting and qualification of candidates will take place on July 15, while the names of qualified candidates will be announced on July 16.
The release says campaign for the elections will commence on July 17 and ends on July 21 at midnight.
The committee calls on all members of the Association to read the various newspapers for details of the timetable and guidelines for the various positions.

July 11: Publication of Guidelines and list of print media
July 12-14 Application/Registration of Candidates
July 15: Vetting and Qualification of Candidates
July 16: Publication of Names of qualified candidates
July 17-21: Campaign
July 22: Election
Guidelines:
Positions:
1. Qualification for the position of President
-Anyone seeking to contest the position of President must have served for ten (10) conservative years as publisher;
-And must be an active publisher with good ethical standing.
2. Qualification for the position of Vice President
-Anyone seeking to contest the position of Vice President must meet the same qualifications as set for the position of President.
3. Qualification for the position of Secretary General
-Anyone seeking to contest the position of Secretary General must have served for five conservative years as a publisher.
– And must have good ethical standing.
4. Qualification for the Position of Financial Secretary
-Anyone seeking to contest the position of Financial Secretary must meet the same qualification as for the position of Secretary General.

VOTING RIGHT
On Election Day, only duly recognized publishers with valid Newspaper Company’s ID Card will be eligible to vote.
