Grand Mufti Warns Against Divisive Campaigning During Election

The Grand Mufti of Liberia, Abubaker Sumaworo

The Grand Mufti of Liberia, Abubaker Sumaworo, has warned Liberians against divisive campaigning in the upcoming election.

Mufti Sumaworo also cautioned Liberians not to develop hatred among themselves as they go through the electioneering period.
Mufti Sumaworo made the statement Sunday when Liberian Muslims joined Muslims around the world to celebrate the end the Holy Month of Ramadan. The program was held at the Gurley Street Mosque in Central Monrovia.
He urged Liberians to elect their leaders in a peaceful manner based on their competence and not on tribal or religious lines.
He emphasized that Liberians should not engage in election campaigning with violence, but in a peaceful atmosphere.
Mufti Sumaworo further urged Liberians to put Liberia first in the upcoming elections and not to seek to realize the ambitions of their political leaders through violence and at the expense of peace and tranquility.
