Syrian, Russian Fighter Jets Heavily Pound ISIL Bases in Deir Ezzur

TEHRAN (FNA) – The Syrian and Russian air forces conducted tens of sorties over the ISIL gathering centers and moves in Deir Ezzur, inflicting heavy damage and casualties on the terrorists by pounding their positions.

Syrian and Russian bombers carried out several combat sorties over ISIL’s points in Deir Ezzur, hitting Takfiri terrorists’ positions and gathering centers in the towns of Ayash and al-Janenah, regions around the Silos area on Deir Ezzur highway and the town of al-Hossan, killing and wounding over 27 militants and destroying three military vehicles.

The Syrian Army also launched missile and artillery strikes against the ISIL and targeted militants’ trenches in al-Huwyqah and Ummal districts near Taim Oil Fields and al-Sannouf hilltop.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian army backed by the country’s air force fended off ISIL’s massive attack on several military positions of the government forces in Southern Deir Ezzur, killing tens of terrorists.

The army units engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists who had attacked the government forces’ military positions in areas near al-Jabileh, Qata al-Talmieh and near al-Maqaber (cemetery) region.

The Syrian army killed 11 terrorists and injured some others during the clashes.

The Syrian army’s artillery units also pounded ISIL’s military positions around Tal al-Sannouf, Taim Oilfield and the two districts of al-Huwyqah and al-Ummal, killing and injuring a number of terrorists.

Meantime, the Syrian air force also launched heavy attacks on ISIL’s military positions in al-Huwyqah Qateh and al-Sana’e and al-Hamidiyeh districts as well as the areas surrounding al-Tamin brigade which resulted in the destruction of three military vehicles and death of tens of ISIL terrorists.
