Two days after firing FBI Director James Comey, President Trump issued a thinly veiled threat on Twitter, suggesting there could be recordings of the conversation the two men had during a dinner that took place about a week after the inauguration.
According to the New York Times, Trump asked Comey to pledge his loyalty to him during the dinner, something the former FBI director refused to do.
The Times reported that “Mr. Comey declined to make that pledge. Instead, Mr. Comey has recounted to others, he told Mr. Trump that he would always be honest with him, but that he was not ‘reliable’ in the conventional political sense.”
