Elections 2017: GNN Monthly Survey Shows Presidential Candidates Popularity Across Liberia

Following various reports from GNN-Liberia reporters across the fifteen-political subdivision of Liberia as to who is being favored regarding the pending October 10, 2017 general and presidential elections, it has been observed that most of those interviewed have made up their minds as to who to vote for, while others to the contrary stressed that they are indecisive due to some reasons.

Our reporters assigned to these counties in their report over the weekend, noted that even though some eligible voters for the 2017 who were interviewed expressed cynical on the success of some of the presidential candidates who they said are unprepared in their bid for the nation’s highest seat, the presidency.

It was also noticed, according to GNN-Liberia team of reporters assigned in the counties in their separate report said, out of the over 22 registered political parties presidential candidates in the countries, few of them are been talked about by the electorates in the counties with the electorates making their decision as to who to vote for in the October 10 elections.

In order to cover the entire country our reporters were deployed to their respective zones including Zone 1, which covers western Liberia (Bomi, Gbarpolu and Cape Mount Counties) it was reported that the Standard Bearer of the ruling Unity Party (UP), Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, the political leader of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of Senator George Weah, the political leader of the Liberty party (LP) of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, the political leader of Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings and the political leader of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) of Dr. Joseph Mills Jones are popularly heard and talk about in that zone.

Our team assigned in Zone 2 (Montserrado, Margibi, River Cess and Grand Bassa Counties) noticed that names that are popularly heard of those contesting the presidency are: the political pleader of the Liberty Party (LP) of Cllr. Charles W. Brumskine, Joseph N. Boakai of the Unity Party (UP), Benoni Urey of the All Liberian Party (ALP), the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander Cummings, the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) of Dr. Joseph Mills Jones.

Zone 3, (Lofa, Bong, and Nimba Counties) noticed that those presidential candidates whose names that are on the lips of electorates in that part of the Country interviewed spoke of the political leader of the Liberty Party (LP); Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, Senator Prince Y. Johnson of the Movement Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), Mr. Joseph N. Boakai of the Unity Party (UP), the political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC); Alexander B. Cummings, the political leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP Mr. Benoni Urey and Dr. Joseph Mills Jones of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) and Coalition for Democratic Change of Senator George Weah.

Zone 4; (Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, River Gee Counties), Liberty Party (LP) of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, Unity Party (UP) of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai, the political leader of Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings, Senator George Weah of Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) of Dr. Joseph Mills Jones, and Senator Prince Y. Johnson of Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) and All Liberia Party (ALP) of Benoni Urey.

Zone 5; (Maryland and Grand Kru Counties), Joseph N. Boakai of the Unity Party (UP), Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings, Liberty Party (LP) of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) of Dr. Joseph Mills Jones, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of George Weah and the political leader of All Liberian Party (ALP of Benoni Urey.

According to our team of reporters assigned in these counties, these names listed above are those that are popularly known. This survey is conducted after every two months.
