Boakai’s Presidential Bid Swells, As Report Says 20 Senators Are To Shortly Pledge Their Support

The support for Liberia’s Vice President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s presidential bid is said to be growing by the day with the latest report that 20 Senators of the Liberian Senate have resolved to jointly pledged their unflinching support to the Vice President upon his return from the United States.

According to the informative Hot Pepper newspaper quoting an authoritative source, said 20 influential senators are expected to declare their support for the candidacy of the Vice President to contest for the 2017 general and presidential elections schedule for October 10, 2017.

The paper further quoting its source said, Senator Thomas Grupee of Nimba County is the one who has organized the support for the Vice President in the Senate.

Recently, Senator Dan Morias of Maryland County an executive member of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) publicly declared his support for the Vice President’s presidential bid. However, the paper’s source did not say whether Senator Morias will be a part of the twenty Senators who are gearing up for the Vice President support.

The Liberian Vice President who left the Country yesterday for the United States is expected to hold talks with officials of the U.S. Government and to further solidify his position with that world superpower as he craves for the nation’s highest seat, the presidency.
