Percy Tau says Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Anthony Laffor is a big-game player.
Tau praised Laffor after the Liberian netted a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Kampala Capital City Authority in the Champions League on Saturday.
The African champions consequently advanced 3-2 on aggregate to the group stages of the CAF event.
“He is a big player. Big players play well in big games, seize the moment and score,” Tau said of Laffor on his club’s website.
“We fought hard as a team, and we knew that if we played our football we will score. We knew we would get at least one. We are after all African champions and just needed to believe in ourselves.
“When they scored, we knew it was going to be even harder, but we kept to our game plan, played football, and the goal came.”
Meanwhile, Tau says he felt humbled when he heard his name being chanted in the stands in Uganda. Tau landed up handing a 10-year-old fan a jersey in appreciation.
“When Ugandan fans shouted my name I felt humbled. I am inspired by these young fans, and feel honoured that I have inspired somebody. This youngster wants to play soccer in South Africa and play alongside me. I hope he does well,” said Tau.
