Ellen Dashes Detractor’s Hope, Recognizes VP Boakai Presidential Bid

Following months of ‘hear say’ that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has politically abandoned her Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai in his quest for the presidency come October 10, 2017 general and presidential elections, and secretly given her support to the opposition Liberty Party, the president yesterday at a well attended program held at the headquarter of the Unity Party disapproved the rumor.

The Liberian leader with a glaring smile during the program used the occasion to publicly deflate people she called detractors of progress, and expressed her support to the vice president presidential bid come 2017.

The objective of yesterday’s program which was attended by mass supporters, and executives of the Unity Party was to showcase 23 new pickups brought into the country by the Liberian Vice President and Standard Bearer of the Unity Party for the use of the Party during the pending 2017 elections.

She lauded the Vice President Boakai’s role in cementing the cordial relations that is currently existence amongst executive and partisans of the Party, noting, “I have explicit confidence in the Vice President and I know we will make it,” the Liberian leader addressing partisans of the UP noted.

For his part, the Vice President thanked President Sirleaf for her support over the years, and also used the occasion to dispelled rumor of any split between him and the President.

Keys of the vehicles were later turned over to Standard Bearer Emeritus of the Party, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who turned same over to the Chairman of the Party, Wilmot Paye.
