The 2017 Nightmares: Is Boakai Abandoned Or Betrayed?

Flash Back: President Sirleaf and Vice President Boakai
Flash Back: President Sirleaf and Vice President Boakai

GNN-Liberia is on a daily basis receiving unconfirmed reports that the former Standard Bearer of the ruling Unity party, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has reportedly given her full support to the opposition Liberty Party (LP) of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine while the Vice President of Liberia and current Standard Bearer of the Party, Joseph N. Boakai is now playing his game for the presidency at the mercy of God.

These unconfirmed reports have been actualized as exodus of partisans of the Unity Party including some lieutenants of the President and top executives of the Unity Party have publicly abandoned their quest in supporting the presidential bid of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai moving over to some opposition political parties.

According to report, the Vice President is now at the mercy of God in his bid for the presidency, while President Sirleaf is reportedly detaching her political strength and support for the Vice President, as drove of officials in her government are also publicly departing the ruling camp to join forces with the opposition.

According to sources closed to the GNN-Liberia, more government officials are also expected to abandon the ruling Unity Party, and perhaps move to where they have been told to go, preferably to the opposition Liberty Party where it has been speculated that their ‘Master’ is quietly seated.

Some political observers, who were interviewed by the GNN-Liberia today, said this line of politics being played in the Unity Party could be a reality of a betrayal of the Vice President by inside UP stalwarts who are playing the devil’s advocate aimed at suffocating the Vice President presidential bid.

President Sirlef has on numerous occasions’ refuted allegations about her link with the Liberty Party, and noted that she is supporting Vice President Boakai, but her support to the Vice President to many seems not to be shown publicly as many of her officials have relinquished their membership with the UP joining other the parties.
