Accra – A Ghanaian farmer, 28, brutally killed his 20-year-old pregnant wife after she demanded money for her upkeep, a report said on Saturday.

According to Ghana web, the alleged suspect had since evaded the police, following the gruesome murder.

The suspect, identified only as Joe, beat up his two months pregnant wife Ama Attaa following an argument over housekeeping money.

Joe, who was reportedly infuriated by how his wife challenged him during the dispute, picked a stick and flogged her to death.

An unidentified family member said the deceased left behind a 1-and-half-year-old son.

“Neighbours called us to come and help Ama Attaa but by the time we rushed her to the hospital she was already dead. We have been looking for the husband… but he is nowhere to be found. I suspect he has fled the community for fear of arrest,” the unidentified family member was cited as saying.

Last year a 45-year-old cocoa farmer allegedly killed his 38-year-old wife following a spousal dispute, according to Ghana Live.TV

The suspect immediately handed himself to the police following the heinous crime.
