Hundreds of Thousands Rally in Downtown Washington for Women’s March

WASHINGTON — “We are America,” Latina actress America Ferrera declared in front of hundreds of thousands of protesters as a rally preceding the Women’s March on Washington Saturday. Wearing pink hats and carrying signs that read things like “Civil Rights Matter” and “My Anger is Justified”, the crowd greeted her words with cheers.

“We will not go from a nation of immigrants to a nation of ignorance,” Ferrera proclaimed.

Along with Ferrera other celebrities are scheduled to speak including, Katy Perry and Cher, “Walking Dead” TV star Danai Gurira, Indian-American televison personality Padma Lakshmi, film star Scarlett Johnansson and feminist icon Gloria Steinem. Following the rally, protesters plan to march to the White House.
