Cash van attack in Assam: one killed, two injured

Guwahati, November 16 : One person killed and two others injured when miscreants attacked on a cash van in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Wednesday morning.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Digboi-Pengeri road in the oil riched Upper Assam.

Police said that miscreants attacked on a tea garden pick up Van which was going to domdooma police station to collect money for weekly salary of tea garden labourers.

“In the miscreants attack a civilian was killed on spot and two others including a security personnel were injured,” a top police official said.

The driver of the van named Thairul Alam Lashkar was hit by two bullets and police constable Jiten Kumar Singh was also injured.

The injured persons had rushed to Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

The deceased person was identified as Abhijit Paul.

Top police and army officials had rushed to the area and launched operation to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile the top police official said that suspected militants of Paresh Baruah led ULFA(I) are behind the attack.
