Gbarnga Gets New City Congress

gbargaThe Gbarnga City Corporation has officially announced members of the City Council to spearhead the activities of the city ordinances.

Those appointed are, Pastor Lahai Sesay chairperson, Dr. Mogana Flomo Sr., Mrs. Dabah Varpilah, Mrs. Marline Jarwoe, Mr. Charles King Sr., Mr. Ansu Sesay and Dr. Obed Dolo.

Others include, Ms. Viola Cooper, Nuulaa Toomann, Lydia Cooper, Mr. Anthony Siakor, Mabanasee Kromah and Mr. Moses Maston and John O. Flomo.

The City Mayor, Hon. Josiah Marvin Cole, told our reporter, “he has no doubt that the above names will use their expertise to assist the city corporation in brining the needed development to Gbarnga”.

“He was grateful for the level of support he continued to receive from citizens of Bong County since his appointment as mayor of Gbarnga and promise to work with them cordially in fostering development for the city”, he added.

The City Mayor explained that as the Legislative arm of the city corporation, the council will not only help in bridging gaps the workings of the city corporation, but will encouraged citizen’s cooperation in the development of Gbarnga.

Inducting the members of the council in Gbarnga, Bong County Senator Jewel Howard Taylor lauded the council members for accepting to work with the city corporation in lifting Gbarnga from its current condition.

Senator Taylor encouraged all residents and citizens of Bong County to support the development of Gbarnga and pledged the county legislative caucus support to improvement of the city.

Senator Taylor said, as part of initiative to contribute portion of her salary toward the development of Gbarnga, her initial project is to provide about fifty sign boards that would be planted across the city to easily locate various communities.

At the same time, residents of Gbarnga have hailed the City Corporation for the successful conduct of the just ended development conference in Gbarnga.

On Saturday, the Gbarnga City Corporation and partners held a day long City Development Conference aimed at engendering a more comprehensive and participatory development agenda for the city.

The residents believed, the conference was an opportunity for them to learn new environmental best practices and waste management.

They are also lauding the city mayor Marvin Cole for being far sighted in organizing the conference not to only get their views on the administration of the city but bringing panelists to teach them in properly managing their environment.

They pledged their support to the City Corporation and expressed the hope that recommendations made during the conference will form part of the Corporation’s to enhance the development of Gbarnga.

The Gbarnga City Development Conference was attended by over two thousand persons including the county superintendent Hon. Selena Polson Mappy, Senators Jewel Howard Taylor and Geraldine Doe Sheriff respectively.
