Donald Trump used his first televised interview since becoming president-elect Trump to urge his supporters to stop beleaguering minorities.
Speaking on 60 Minutes, he said: “I am so saddened to hear that,” when he was told that Latinos and Muslims had been facing harassment.
“And I say, ‘Stop it’. If it – if it helps, I will say this and I will say right to the cameras: ‘Stop it’.”
In recent days, there have been a number of race-related crimes across the US, particularly in schools.
Trump used the interview to reiterate his tough stance on immigration as he pledged to, “get the people that are criminals and have criminal records, gang members, and drug dealers. We are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate.” He said that the number of undocumented immigrants that fit into this category is likely to be two or three million.
