US Expects Anti-Daesh Operations in Raqqa, Mosul to Drag On

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition against the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) carried out 27 airstrikes against the terror group’s positions in Syria and Iraq on Monday, Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.

“In Syria, Coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes using attack, bomber, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Islamic State] targets,” the release stated on Tuesday. “Additionally in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted ten strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq.”

The coalition airstrikes in Syria were launched in three cities, including Mara and Palmyra, and destroyed vehicles, bridges, supply routes, tactical units and vehicle-bourne improvised explosive devices, the release noted.
