Bomi County Superintendent Samuel F. Brown has commended the head of the European Union delegation in Liberia, Tiina Intelmann, for the level of development the Union has carried out in his county.

He has at the same time appealed to the EU to extend its road maintenance program to Bomi County to enable residents to access social services easily.

Supt. Brown was speaking recently in Tubmanburg City, Bomi County when an EU delegation, comprising two Estonian members of Parliament, Mati Raidma and Mart Nutt, paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

Brown said due to the deplorable condition of roads in the county, farmers are finding it difficult to transport their produce to market, stressing that on many occasions their produce get damaged while en route to markets for sale.

He also said they face difficulties in transporting patients to nearby clinics or health centers for treatment due to the deplorable condition of roads.

According to Brown, major streets in Tubmanburg City are also in very bad state, adding that any assistance or intervention on the part of the EU will be highly appreciated.

Earlier, Ambassador Intelmann promised the EU’s continued support to Liberia, and lauded Superintendent Brown for the hard work, informing him that the delegation was on a field trip to inspect EU-funded projects in the county.

She said they would also use the opportunity to learn more about EU support for Liberia and speak directly to implementing partners while assessing the impact of their support.
