Man dies after being found in pond at Jersey City Park

njJERSEY CITY — A man has died after being found in the pond at Lincoln Park, officials said.

The man’s body was found in the water Wednesday afternoon. He was brought to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, a Hudson County Sheriff’s spokesman said.

Aleksandr Osenenko, 18, spotted the man in the pond and jumped into the water in efforts to save the man.

Authorities are searching for a 19-year-old man who has been charged with critically injuring a teen during a shooting last week.

It’s unclear how the man ended up in the water and remains under investigation. Additional information was not immediately available.
