stop-human-trafficking-bwPolice in Gbarnga, Bong County have charged a 49-year-old man with multiple offenses, including human trafficking and kidnapping.

Abdulai Sellah, a resident of Gbarnga, was arrested recently while attempting to sell his 5-year-old stepson.

Selah told Police investigators he wanted to sell the child because his girlfriend, who is the mother of the child, has since failed to fulfill a promise she made to him more than two years ago.

Police record quotes suspect Sellah as saying his girl friend promised to buy him a car but has not fulfilled her promise, prompting him to decide to sell the child.

According to the Police record, Sellah took the child from Ganta, Nimba County while his mother was in the market under the pretext that he was bringing him to Gbarnga to send him to school.

Meanwhile, Sellah has been forwarded to the Gbarnga Magisterial Court for prosecution.
