Liberia Congratulates Mexico On 206th Anniversary

mexicoPresident Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people f the United Mexican States (Mexico) on the occasion of the 206th Independence Anniversary of that country.

Mexico’s Independence Day commemorates September 16, 1810, when Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla urged Mexicans to rise up against the Spanish-born ruling class.

“As your country commemorates its two hundred and sixth (206th) Independence Anniversary,  it is with immense pleasure that I convey on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia, and in my own name, heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to you, the Government and people of the United Mexican States (Mexico),”  the Liberian Chief Executive said.

President Sirleaf also added that as the Government and people of the United Mexican States commemorate its 206th Independence Anniversary, the people of Liberia wish to recount the efforts of Mexico for extending support during the period of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, which demonstrated the deepened existing ties between the two countries and peoples.

She prayed that the people of the United Mexican States will continue to enjoy sustained prosperity, peace and national unity.
