Who’s Ellen’s Choice To Succeed Her? As UP Partisans On ‘Secret Meetings’ At Various Locations

untitledRecent declaration by Dr. Toga Gayewea McIntosh to contest for the standard bearer position of the ruling Unity Party (UP) and at the same time made contesting for the presidency via the UP ticket during the 2017 general and presidential elections seems to divide the ruling party with secret meetings to dethrone the incumbent Vice Standard Bearer, Liberian Vice President Joseph N. Boakai who is also craving to succeed President Sirleaf who tenure expected to elapse in 2018.

The political leader of the party and also President of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who earlier expressed her support to her Vice President’s presidential bid is reportedly being cut between the scissor in a dramatic mood as playing the ‘Devil Advocate’, showing no interest of her Vice President bid for the presidency.

Report gathered by this news outlet through sampling interviews with partisans and officials of the Unity Party has indicated that President Sirleaf who is now considered as twins mother in the entire UP saga seems not to have interest in her Vice President bid to succeed her as Liberia’s next President come 2017 general and presidential elections.

Already secret meetings are being held at difference locations in Monrovia and other parts of the Country by partisans and some executives committee members of the party to express their ‘Vote of No Confidence’ to Vice President Boakai during the pending primary of the party to be held shortly.

According to one of our sources closed to the Unity Party executive committee, the Liberian leader has reportedly playing a blind eyes nowadays to her VP’s bid for the presidency, and clandestinely expressing her support to Dr. McIntosh to succeed her.

Some partisans of the UP under the banner United for Quick Action (PUQA), according to a local daily are calling on Vice President Boakai to abandon his quest for the presidency and go into his retirement after his tenure.

The paper quoting one Ismael Koffeh said VP Boakai was given by the Liberian people but has failed to live up to the task, only to put up an argument that he was just Vice President and was overshadowed.

Some political observers who spoke to the GNN via mobile phone blamed President Sirleaf for the split in the party, because according to them, she is craving for the support of her former Foreign Minister, Dr. Toga Gayewea McIntosh to succeed her.

“This lady is playing a ‘Devil Advocate’ she knows precisely what is happening within the ranks and files of the party. McIntosh is her choice, Boakai will be dumped at the end,” our source closed to the UP who spoke to our reporter noted.

According to our source, series of meetings at been held in Monrovia and other parts of the Country by some executive committee members and some partisans aimed at given their support to Dr. McIntosh while VP Boakai is reportedly been left in the cold.

The VP who is expected to complete his nationwide inspection of the Liberian Government’s sponsored projects have reportedly been supported by a great number of Liberians in those counties visited for his presidential bid.
