LIBERIA: In Cape Mount County Man, 59, Accused of Raping Girl, 11

rape2ROBERTSPORT, April 26 (LINA) – An official of the Community Watch Forum of Liberia (CWFL) Grand Cape Mount County chapter has disclosed that the CWFL arrested a 59- year-old man for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl and turned him over to the Liberia Nation Police (LNP).

CWFL Chairman Abraham Balo made the disclosure on Monday at his Sinje office in an interview with the Liberia News Agency.

Balo said the incident took place in Tienii, Tewor District at the weekend.

He explained that the accused walked into the home of the victim’s parents and committed the act while they were away.

Balo said following the incident, the accused attempted to escape but was arrested by CWFL members who turned him over to the police.

He expressed concern that gender-based violence, especially rape and beating of women, are becoming prevalent in the county.
