The National Elections Commission (NEC) has endorsed the new leadership of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) elected at its 6th Biennial Convention held in February in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
In a letter to the Chairman of the 6th Biennial Convention Committee of the party,
Cllr. Theophilus Gould, NEC Chairman, Cllr. Jerome Korkoya, lauded the NPP for the peaceful and responsible manner in which it conducted its 6th Biennial Convention.
Korkoya congratulated the new leadership of the NPP headed by James P. Binney as National Chairman and noted that the Commission looks forward to a renewed cordial and strengthened relationship between the NPP and the Commission.
The decision to endorse the new leadership of the NPP is a result of the party’s compliance with the August 5, 2015 ruling of the Board of Commissioners of the
NEC aimed at resolving the long standing conflict within the party, said a release from the commission.
The Board of Commissioners in the ruling mandated the NPP to, among other things, set up an interim leadership that would plan and execute a national convention of the party in concert with its By-Laws and Constitution.
