(LINA) –The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has contributed about US$1.5 million to the 2015-2016 Fiscal Budget, an official of the entity has disclosed.
Public Relations Manager William Morris told the Liberia News Agency Thursday that the contribution is in response to a request made by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to the former management of LPRC to contribute US$4 million in 2014.
He indicated that the management could not commit to pay the amount, but promised to contribute US$2 million owing to the on-going expansion of the Product Storage Terminal (PST) project at its facility.
Morris noted that the new management remitted the US$1.5 million into the national budget in addition to paying the company’s corporate income tax which he could not disclose.
Commenting on the company’s corporate social responsibility, Morris said a decision was reached to have the same channeled through the central government. He could not say whether LPRC has given any money to that effect, but pointed out that the company has been assisting some schools that have been catering to the well-being of children who lost their parents to the Ebola disease.
