Female Ebola Survivors In Bomi Get US$8k Farming Tools

(LINA) – The Concerned Women Caucus (COWOCA), a local NGO in Bomi County, has donated agricultural tools worth US$8,406 to female Ebola survivors in Tehr District, Bomi County to make farms and gardens.

Items donated included hoes, shovels, cutlasses, boots and hand gloves.

The donation was prompted by the recent call by Bomi County Superintendent Samuel Brown for citizens to engage in agriculture to feed the county, according to COWOCA Coordinator Mary Sumo Sackie.

Sackie told the Liberia News Agency in an interview Wednesday that the women will empower themselves economically and cater for their children, if they engage in food production

She noted that the organization will also provide rice and other seeds that may be required by the women.
