LIBERIA: DAGBASS Wants NAPBL Clarify On ‘PUL Bogus Award’

Following series of damaging reports by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) regarding an award conferred on the Chief Executive Officer of the David G. Barshell, Sr. School System (DAGBASS), Mr. Ceebee C. D. Barshell by the National Publishers and Broadcasters Association (NAPBL) as ‘Educator of the Year 2014/2015’, the administration of the institution is seriously calling on the President of NAPBL, Rufus Paul to urgently provide clarity on such report from the PUL.

Speaking further, the Chairman of the Parents Students Teachers Association (PSTA) said awarding the institution’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ceebee C. D. Barshell as ‘Educator of the Year 2014/2015’ was timely, but expressed reservation on these recent damaging statements coming from the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).

In a letter to Mr. Paul and signed by the CEO of the DAGBASS noted that  in recent past his family, school parents and well-wishers to an improved and effective school system have fallen with dismay the continuous and fervent attack by what he called, “A group calling itself the Press Union of Liberia (PUL).

Mr. Barshell in the letter further stressed that “It is with deep fear and shock as to why a huge organization like the PUL will tighten its many agents to ravel against our noble institution and repetition on all fronts describing the awards presented to us as “A PUL bogus Award”.

“In this backdrop”, the letter to Mr. Paul continued: ‘I write to seek proper clarity as to what revelation or foundation that comes with your recent suspension of 6-month – parallel with PUL Vice President, Jallah Grayfield 1-month suspension,” the DAGBASS boss fumbled in his communication.

The letter which is being published, is calling on the President of the National Publishers and Broadcasters Association to provide what the letter called ‘Clarity’ as agreed upon to save ‘Our precious Royal Kids and personal repetition”.

Residents and parents of students attending the school have also condemned the action by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) by describing an honor conferred on their institution’s Chief Executive Officer of DAGBASS, Mr. Ceebee C.D. Barshell by the National Publishers and Broadcasters Association as a “Bogus PUL Award.”

Some of the residents and parents who spoke to our reporter said the contributions of Mr. Barshell over the years providing quality education to their children in the district, and other nearby communities’ worth commendation, and warned the PUL to desist from its negative propaganda being spread in the public against the school and its proprietor, Mr. Ceebee Barshell.
