GNN Congratulates ALJA On The Convening OF its Annual Convention In U.S.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Global News Network, publisher of one of Liberia’s widely browse online news outlets has congratulated the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas for the convening of its annual convention

In a statement sent to the organizing leadership of ALJA, Mr. Brooks said, “I am over overwhelmed by the level of your professional togetherness in forging ahead as a group of Liberian Journalists in that part of the world understanding your oneness in this noble profession”.

Noting further, Mr. Brooks said “I write to congratulate you and the rest of our professional colleagues who are threading the good path of this professional organization, the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas in convening another annual convention scheduled for this weekend in the State of Delaware to deliberate on issues as they relate to ALJA”.

Concluding in the statement, the GNN boss added, “I pray that during your deliberation at this convention, including the election of another team of officers, the shower of love, unity and peace will shine over every one of you in Jesus’ name”.

ALJA was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1998 by a group of US based Liberian journalists with the sole purpose of uniting current and retired Liberian journalists living in the US and parts adjacent to mobilize resources to assist the Press Union of Liberia strengthens press freedom in Liberia. The organization is also, committed to the advancement of the principle of good governance in Liberia.

ALJA crumbled in the year 2004 due to internal strife amongst its members. However, in November 2014, a group of well-meaning US based Liberian journalists initiated efforts for the rejuvenation of the organization. In January 2015, the journalists convened a mini ALJA convention and put in place an interim leadership with the mandate of jump starting the Association’s reactivation process. The Interim Leadership is led by journalist, Moses D. Sandy, former Editor-in-Chief of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS).ALJA is a group of professional Liberian journalists based in the United Statena group.
