He observed that the district lacks of a high school and health center, noting that as a result the district does not have a District Health Officer (DHO) and a District Education Officer (DEO).

Addressing a ceremony marking Senator Jewel Taylor’s visit to Barkedu Town in the district at the weekend, Commissioner Kamara lamented the level of challenges facing the district, and appealed to Senator Taylor to help resolve some of these problems.

He also called on Senator Taylor to intervene and ensure that the names of General Town Chiefs and Town Chiefs in the district are placed on government payroll.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Kamara is calling on government and international partners to assist victims of the recent storm that left several citizens homeless.

According to him, the recent storm completely damaged 127 homes and partially damaged 70 others, including nine toilets and 11 kitchens.

He stressed the urgent need to respond to the needs of victims, especially during this period of fasting, adding, “it will be very difficult to shelter with relatives while observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.”

Responding, Senator Taylor promised to convey their grievances to the requisite individuals and institutions, while also collaborating with other lawmakers to help address their needs.
