LIBERIA: Lofa Citizens Petitioned Current Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai To Contest 2017 Presidency

Thousands of Lofa citizens over the weekend gathered in their mass to petition Liberia’s current Vice President, Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai to run for the upcoming 2017 presidential elections, saying he is the right man for the job.

The citizens in their petition urged VP Boakai who also hailed from the County not to turn down their quest, noting, “You have performed well as Liberia’s Vice President of the Republic of Liberia over the years, and called on you to accept our call to contest for the presidency during the pending 2017 general and presidential elections”, the citizens stressed.

During the presentation of their petition to Ambassador Boakai, drumming, singing with the displayed of colorful dances by women and youth groups with dozens of ‘Country Devils’ also displayed their traditional talents in support of Ambassador Boakai’s presidential bid.

In receiving the statement beeping with a glaring smiles,, Vice President Boakai promised to response to their petition at a later date.

Liberian political analysts who spoke to this outlet said ears and eyes are opened to see what the response of the Vice President will be, especially when he is from the ruling Unity party of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf that is being publicly criticized for its low stance against the eradication of corruption which is eating up the fabric of the Liberian society with nothing been done to curtail such ugly act.

While others who also spoke to the news outlet believed the Vice President when elected to lead the Country will do better; describing him as a man of principle and integrity.
