(LINA) Grand Jurors at Criminal Court “A” at the Temple of Justice have indicted Musa Kanneh, 49, for alleged statutory rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Moulton Corner in Brewerville City, Montserrado County on January 18, 2015.
In their two-count indictment read before Resident Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie recently, the jurors said Kanneh committed the crime of statutory rape and murder of the first degree by engaging in a violent sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old now deceased and whose initials are “M.M.”
The jurors noted in their indictment that the victim was subsequently taken to the Redemption Hospital, New Kru Town and Faith Clinic on Hotel Africa Road respectively, where the needed care was not available.
The indictment noted that that the victim was later taken to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival, adding that her body was examined by Dr. Wilhemina Jallah of the Hope International/Hope for Women Medical Center.
According to the indictment, an autopsy was also conducted, establishing that the victim died as a result of severe head trauma (injury) and posterior neck trauma which caused her to bleed profusely and that in addition there was evidences of sexual violence.
The indictment noted that the act of the Defendant Musa Kanneh was in violation of Section 14.1 (a) (b) of the New Penal Law of Liberia, Title 26, Subchapter A., Criminal Homicide.
The defendant has since denied the allegation before police at the Zone 6 Police Depot in Brewerville.
