LIBERIA: President Sirleaf Consoles Egypt

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of condolence to the Government and People of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the death 22 of its citizens in a football match stampede.

The 22 people died following a stampede during a major soccer game at the national stadium in Cairo on Sunday, February 8, 2015.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued in Monrovia Thursday, President Sirleaf in the message to her Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Egypt, especially to the bereaved families for the irreparable loss sustained.
 
The Liberian leader then prayed that Allah will grant President El-Sisi and the People of Egypt strength, courage and fortitude as they go through this period of national mourning.
