LIBERIA: Lawmakers Formed Bloc To Remove Speaker Alex Tyler

Members of the House of Representatives say they are determined to remove their Speaker, J. Alex Tyler who is also a District Number two Representative of Bomi County for what they described as “His weakness to perform over the years to the satisfaction of the Liberian people”.

Speaking to reporters after their meeting in the suburb of Paynesville, Montserrado County District Number Three, Bill Twehway said the majority members of the House of Representative have resolved to remove Speaker Tyler following their Monday night meeting.

But in reaction to his colleagues’ quest to dethrone his leadership, Speaker Tyler to a local TV reporter Monday evening said he was ready for any action from his colleagues, noting, “Whatever decision they have reached, that decision will be respected by me,” the Bomi County lawmaker in a rather disappointing state told Power TV news anchor.
