LIBERIA: NEC Begins Tallying Montserrado County Elections Results

Monrovia – The National Elections Commission has commenced the tallying of results from over 200 polling precincts in Montserrado County. The NEC states that the tallying process is geared toward ensuring free, fair and transparent results in the county.

It can be recalled that the NEC ranked Montserrado County as the county with the highest number of registered voters. The just ended December 20, 2014 election had 11 candidates with 5 of them from political parties and 6 were independent candidates.

There were two main contenders in the elections, namely Robert Sirleaf and the main opposition of the Democratic Change, Ambassador George Weah. According to the tally of the NEC, provisional results from its agents have shown that the CDC candidate George Weah is in the lead followed by the independent candidate, Robert Sirleaf.

Some of the candidates in the just ended elections in Montserrado County include former National Oil Company of Liberia Boss, Christopher Neyor, Weah and Benjamin Sanveeof the Liberty Party among others.
