The Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Madam Matilda W. Parker was on Sunday elaborately ordained Elder and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church along with six others for their hard work, generosity, and services to the work of God and the Church.
Hundreds of well-wishers including Liberian Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai and his wife, and dozens of government officials graced the occasion to witness the ordination of the NPA boss and others, as the Moderator of the Church, Rev. Sando E. Townsend lauded praises on the honorees for their unique service to God.
Others ordained along with Madam Parker as Elders and Deacons were Edith H. Yancy, Charessetta V. Nimmo, Celestne S, Johnson, Catherine A. Cooper, Clarence B. Townsend and Henry Harris.
Following the colorful church service, a well-organized reception was held in the ball room of the Monrovia City Hall in honor of the honorees, where again hundreds of well-wishers including the wife of Liberian Vice President, employees of the National Port Authority, and others turnout to grace the occasion.
The leadership of the church, and members in their numbers were also there to grace the occasion as singing groups from various churches intoned songs of praises making the audience and the honorees to take the dancing floor.
Several gifts from members of the church were presented by Madam Parker to both the Moderator and the Assistant Pastor of the Church, Rev. Sando E. Townsend and Rev. C. Wellington Morgan for their committed services to the work of God.
