LIBERIA: Legislature Joint Public Accounts Committee Clarifies Corruption Allegation Against National Port Authority

The Joint Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Liberian Legislature has clarify that its report to the President of Liberia on the Auditor General’s  Audit of the National Port Authority did not reflect charges of corruption or malfeasance at the NPA as reported by some online and conventional media institutions.

The Joint PAC Secretariat review and subsequent findings at the National Port Authority covered the period of 2006/2007 and 2007/2008.

According to the Director of the House of Representatives Public Affairs, Isaac Redd in a press release said, the Public Accounts Committee of the Liberian Legislature recommended to the President of Liberia that further actions must be taken to address the collection of arrears and issues of illegal occupancy of NPA properties that were caused by past Management.

Accordingly, the PAC further states that although the current Management of the National Port Authority was not in place during this period of audit, they are responsible for the implementation of the recommendations and will be held accountable for any remaining corrective actions.
