President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will not officially celebrate her 76th birth anniversary tomorrow, October 29, due to the national health crisis occasioned by the Ebola outbreak.
Making the disclosure at the Ministry of Information daily Ebola press conference held at the ministry Tuesday, Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Isaac Jackson, said the President will continue her normal work to help contain the Ebola virus.
“Tomorrow, the President will be at her office to do the job of the Liberian people, and we encourage our citizens and officials of government to stop by or send her birthday wishes and congratulate her for her dedication and hard work,” Jackson said.
He observed that the president remains “incredibly strong even at the age of 76,” and noted that “her mental alertness has enabled her to provide astute leadership for the people of Liberia.”
He congratulated President Sirleaf on behalf of the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, noting: “She has been able to move the country away from hopelessness in these difficult times, inspiring the country to combat the deadly Ebola disease.”
