In its bid to satisfy every sector of the Liberian society, especially during these difficult times when the deadly Ebola virus is raging hell on Liberians; taken hundreds of lives, the management of the National Port Authority (NPA) on Friday, October 24, 2014 took its Ebola fight to the Phebe Hospital, one of Liberia’s referral health centers in Bong County with relief items to be used by patents.
The relief items which included ten hospital beds, mattresses and beddings were presented to the management team of the hospital in the presence of the Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Liberia, Jensen Seyenkulo, and the management team of the hospital headed by Dr. Jefferson Sibley who is also the Medical Director of the Hospital.
Presented the items, the Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Madam Matilda W. Parker, said this donation was her management way of identifying with the hospital management and dozens of patients who are being catered to during these critical periods, when Liberians are battling out with the Ebola virus.
The NPA delegation also included the Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Yekeh Forkpa, the President of the Dock Worker Association at the NPA, Madam Jackie Doe, and other top senior managers were all in attendance during the presentation of the relief items.
For his part, the Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Liberia, Jensen Seyenkulo thanked the management of the NPA for its humanitarian assistance to the hospital which is being run by the Church, and said such donation will go a long way in bringing total relief to both patients at the hospital and the management team.
Also speaking at the program were also the County Health Officer of Bong County, and the Medical Director of Phebe, Dr. Samson R. Arzoaquoi, and Dr. Jefferson Sibley, both officials thanked the NPA management for its ‘timely’ contribution to the hospital, and called on others to follow the humanitarian gesture of the NPA Management.
The Board Chair of the Hospital, and former Transport Minister, Tornorlah Varpilan who also spoke at the program expressed thanks and appreciation to the NPA management for its support to the hospital.
Mr. Varpilan and officials of the hospital later took the NPA Management team on a tour of the hospital facilities.
