Assad Urges to Stop Funding Armed Groups in Syria

In a meeting in Iraq, the Syrian President indicated that Iraq and Syria were coordinating in their fight against the Islamic State. Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Wednesday that to combat terrorism in the Middle East, more pressure must be placed on nations that are financing and supporting the insurgents . In comments made to an Iraqi security official in Damascus, the President said that, “The battle against terrorism starts with pressure on the countries that support and finance terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq and pretend that they want to fight against terrorism,” as reported by state news agency SANA.
