The Country Director of World Food Program (WFP) Liberia, Adama Diop-Faye, says her organization has begun distributing food to Ebola Treatment Centers in the country.
According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Director Diop-Faye made the disclosure Monday in Sinje Town, Garwula District during the visit of the United Nations Secretary General Special Representative to Liberia to the area.
Madame Diop-Faye said the WFP is responsible to provide food to citizens during crises to enable them meet their daily meal requirements.
She commended the Liberian Government for establishing the Ebola Treatment Centers that will help to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.
The WFP Liberia boss said while suspected Ebola patients are at these centers, they should be properly catered for in terms of provision of food and other essentials that will help keep them in these centers.
Meanwhile, she is cautioning patients at these centers to follow the guidelines introduced by the government to contain the spread of the disease in the country.
The WFP official said when these patients are hungry in their various withholding centers, they will be forced to go out in search of food, which, she noted, has the potential to also spread the disease.
