A youth Advocate of Bomi county has alarmed over the alleged introduction of modern slavery as well as a bad labor practices by Sime Darby a Malaysian Rubber Company operating in Bomi, Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu counties.

Speaking to this entity in Monrovia recently, Charles Brown said the Plantation has been forcibly using the workers on the plantation to carry on work that should be done by machines and paying the employees less wages.
Mr. Browne is at the same calling on the government of Liberia to revisit the Sime Darby Concession agreement in order to put stop to the alleged enslavement of Liberians at the plantation.

He however pointed out that Sime Darby Company has ignored the labor of Liberians working on the plantation while treating them as slaves in their own country.

The Bomi county Youth Advocate has also blamed the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Concessions, Senator Sando Johnson of doing nothing to address the plight of the workers at the Sime Darby Plantation.

Meanwhile, when this entity contacted the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Concession at the Liberian Senate Senator Sando Dazoe Johnson pointed out that he has not received any written communication from the citizens and workers of the plantation of complaining Sime Darby of bad labor practices against them.
