VOA NEWS: Suspected Al-Shabab Gunmen Kill 48 in Kenya

At least 48 people were killed when dozens of heavily armed gunmen sped into a town on Kenya's coast, shooting soccer fans gathered to watch a World Cup match in a television hall and targeting a police station, bank and hotels, police and witnesses said on Monday.

Police said Somalia's al-Shabab Islamist group was most likely to blame for Sunday night's assault on the town of Mpeketoni, near the coastal island and popular tourist resort of Lamu, late on Sunday.
