LIBERIA: Criminal Court “D” Sentences 7 Armed Robbers

The Criminal Court” D” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has sentenced seven persons to  four years imprisonment at the Monrovia Central Prison for armed robbery. Criminal Court “D” Judge Yusuf Kabah handed down the guilty verdicts Friday.

It can be recalled that the seven men were arrested by officers of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) of the Liberia National Police for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery attack on Ecobank in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

Judge Kaba said the court’s decision against the men was based on fact finding by jurors at Criminal Court “D”.

The accused men have, however, filed an appeal for re-trial of the case.

The appeal has been granted by the Judge Kaba who has accordingly transferred the case to the Supreme Court for re-trial during its March 2014 term of court.
